Do You Need a Colombian Business Partner for a Colombia Visa

Publicado el 13 octubre 2026

A Colombian partner may help a business operate, but nationality of a co-owner is not the main test for the M Socio o Propietario visa. The application must show the foreigner’s relevant capital participation or registered investment and the company’s activity and solvency.

The Ministry’s published requirements for the owner or partner category ask for a request letter that identifies the company, its NIT, business activity, and direct jobs; qualifying investment or capital evidence; and evidence of economic activity and solvency. Those requirements apply whether the company has Colombian partners or not. The corporate structure should serve the actual business, not merely a paper explanation for a visa.

Review the current official requirements for the visa or migration process that matches your situation before filing. A private professional can help organize documents, but the Colombian authorities decide the application.
